Hotel search in Malibu

To the west of Los Angeles, tourists can visit a “star” city that lures guests with its entertainment and international fame. This is a true paradise for fearless surfers and divers. Malibu is also a great destination for beach recreation. Nature made a fantastic “gift” to the city, giving Malibu forty kilometers of clean beach areas. It is not rare to see a celebrity during a walk here – many rich and famous people have villas in Malibu. The Pacific coast is also a popular area to film TV series. Would you like a visit a paradise settlement close to Los Angeles? Come to Malibu and feel like a character from an American TV series.

In the past, this area was a Chumash territory. This Native American tribe called their homeland “Humaliwo” which means “loud surf”. The current name of this Pacific city derived from that old name. The first mentions of Malibu date back to 1542 when Spanish explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo stayed in Malibu Lagoon to replenish his freshwater stock. That being said, the colonists could capture the region and drive back the aboriginal tribes only in the 17th century. The first Spanish migrants started settling in the region only at the beginning of the 18th century.

Initially, there was no asphalt road in Malibu until the first Pacific highway was finally built here in 1929. At that time, a roofing tile factory was working in the city. Agriculture was developing too. The tile factory was producing the material for roofs of the local buildings, so almost all houses in Malibu had roofs covered with the tiles produced at the local factory. Unfortunately, a fire damaged much of the factory’s facilities in 1931. After that, it was decided to close the company. Malibu officially became a city only in 1991. Copyright www.orangesmile.com

Malibu can be proud of its gorgeous recreation areas, and Zuma Beach is, without a doubt, one of them. Local people enjoy visiting this coastal area very much, but Zuma is not very popular with tourists because not many vacationers know about this beach. Zuma Beach is a wild and rather calm area that is an ideal destination for everyone wishing to relax and forget about big city noise and stress. The beach doesn’t have any trash or litter because it is cleaned several times a day. The coastal water is clean here, and the ocean is calm. There are no high waves in Zuma Beach. Soft sand covers this beach area, and the ocean is not deep near the coast, making Zuma a great destination for families with children.

However, this is not the biggest attraction of Zuma Beach. Don’t forget to come here at sunset to see an incredibly picturesque view. If you visit this ocean coast closer to the evening, you can see how the sun goes beyond the horizon. It looks like the ocean is slowly swallowing our day star. This is not the only peculiarity. During the sunset time, the sky becomes painted in incredible orange color. The sky reflects in the water, making the ocean shine with different shades of yellow, orange, and scarlet. This is a truly fantastic and mesmerizing view that continuously gathers many admirers of beautiful nature.

How about visiting the beach where the famous American TV series Baywatch was filmed? For this purpose, visit the Malibu Beach recreational area. The length of this beach is roughly forty kilometers. If you are searching for a place to relax and enjoy surfing or other favorite activities like water ski, this is a perfectly suitable place because high waves are frequent at Malibu Beach. The territory of this beach is conventionally divided into two parts. One part of the beach is dedicated to swimming and sunbathing, and the other one is suitable for surfers.

The surfing part of the coastal area also has several segments for sportsmen with different expertise. There is a zone for beginners with lower waves. The next zone is for advanced surfers, and the third zone is suitable for professional surfers. The area for masters of this water sport is banned for swimmers. Malibu Beach offers sports grounds and shower cabins. Vacationers are welcome to rent a motorboat and make a mesmerizing ocean journey, during which they can see local “inhabitants” – dolphins and whales. Professional rescue teams always keep an eye on people at the beach to ensure everyone’s safety.

If you have decided to visit the “star” city of Malibu, you need to search for an air carrier that has flights to Los Angeles. There is no way to get directly to this beach paradise. From Los Angles, use the Pacific Coast Highway to get to Malibu. It is important to mention that this is the only road that crosses the resort city – Malibu lies on both sides of the highway. To drive to this city, tourists can rent a car directly at the airport or call a taxi. Besides that, there are high-speed commuter trains to Malibu from Santa Monica and Washington.
