How do I setup my new Samsung Galaxy watch? ›

Turn on your watch by pressing and holding the Home key, and then navigate to and open the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone. If you haven't installed the app, you can do so from the Galaxy Store or Play Store on Android devices. Next, select your device from the list and follow the prompts to complete the setup.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4G allows users to use a 4G connection without needing a smartphone nearby. Users can leave their phone at home and still stream music, take calls or messages, or get notifications while out and about.

You can use your Galaxy Watch Active without connecting to a mobile device, making it easier to use with outdoor activities like running, hiking and mountain climbing. You can setup the Galaxy Watch Active without a mobile device when it is turned on for the first time or after it has been reset.

The Galaxy Wearable app connects your smart watch to a compatible phone.

While used with a standalone plan, the Galaxy Watch won't require an AndroidTM smartphone or Apple® iPhone® to function after initial activation but does require the phone for certain options (eg, software updates, email, etc.).

If you have an LTE model, you can make calls directly from the watch without being connected to your phone.

Put your smartwatch into sleep mode when not in use. The screen will turn itself off after a while when not in use, but you can save even more battery if you put your smartwatch into sleep mode immediately when you're ready to stop using it. To enter sleep mode, simply cover the smartwatch screen with your palm once.

If your smartwatch is connected to Wi-Fi, and your phone has a Wi-Fi or cellular network connection, your smartphone can be anywhere you like. The Wi-Fi network doesn't have to be the same either. If your smartwatch isn't connected to Wi-Fi, keep it within 30 feet your phone.

None of the Samsung Galaxy Watches require a data plan. For the LTE models, you can get a data plan on them however it is not required.

How far away can my Smartwatch be from my phone and still be connected? The range of the wireless Bluetooth connection between your phone and your smartwatch can vary greatly depending on the environment. In general, you should have at least 10 meters (or 30 feet) of connectivity.

Charge the battery of your Galaxy Watch before using it for the first time or when it has been unused for extended periods. Please note: The Galaxy watch is unable to be charged directy by a cable. The cable will need to be connected into a smart charger to be able to charge your watch.

Activate/connect a watch on your smartphone

On your phone, open the Galaxy Wearable app. Start the setup: If the phone isn't paired with the watch, select Get started in the app. If the phone is paired with the watch already, select Mobile networks in the app.

If your watch will not pair to a phone, or if it randomly disconnects, restart your watch. You should also make sure the Galaxy wearable app is up to date, but it may be necessary to reset the app and unpair your watch.
